Why Giving is Important

In order to provide technology education opportunities Empower Up needs three things:

  • Donated computers and electronics.
  • Dedicated volunteers.
  • Funding from generous individuals.
If you can provide just one of these to Empower Up, you are directly aiding free education for those in need in Clark County.

How Your Money Helps

  • $10 - pays for one new recycling tote (we use a lot of them!).
  • $20 - pays for one deconstruction tool kit.
  • $75 - provides a free computer system to a family in need.

Equipment We Accept For Donation

Empower Up accepts computers and consumer electronics in any condition. We prefer, working equipment that is 5 years old or newer, but will accept any and all small electronics. For a complete list of what we accept and do not accept please follow the link to learn more...

How to Donate Equipment

When donate your computers and electronics:

  • Disconnect all cables and power cords.
  • Keep AC adapters and other accessories like remote controls with the equipment.
  • Most manuals and documentation can be recycled with your curbside recycling. However, manuals for vintage equipment is desired.

Data Security

Empower Up uses the American Department of Defense 5220-22.M Standard Wipe on all hard drives that are large enough for reuse (40 GB and larger). Any drive that posts any error during the wipe process is physically destroyed by grinding. All drives under 40 GB are physically destroyed by grinding.
