Volunteering at Empower Up

Empower Up has many volunteer opportunities available for you to help our non-profit organization. Volunteer opportunities cover a wide range of roles and responsibilities and are a great way to connect with your community. More information about volunteering is available on our Volunteer Wiki.

If you are interested in receiving job skills training such as computer refurbishing, check out our Education program.


Reuse Center Training Positions

Empower Up has several volunteer positions that assist us in running our computer reuse and recycling programs.

  • Orientation Leaders - Assists with trainee orientations, paperwork, safety tours and scheduling.
  • Recycling Leaders - Assists with teaching trainees the process of deconstruction and materials sorting of recycled electronics.
  • Reuse Leaders - Assists with teaching trainees the process of testing and refurbishing computers and other electronics for reuse and resale, including retail store operations.

These positions are intended for individuals that already possess the necessary knowledge and technical skills to perform the work required.

Support Positions

If you have experience in the following areas, we would love to put your knowledge to work for our cause.

  • Administrative Assistant - General office assistant, data entry and answering phones.
  • Grant Writing - Working with the Development Committee to identify and submit grants to meet our funding goals.
  • Development - Fundraising and donor development.
  • Events - Assisting with with the several fundraising events we hold each year.
  • Outreach - Assisting with community outreach and social media.

These positions are intended for individuals that already possess the necessary knowledge and technical skills to perform the work required.
